The St Louis Blues just won the Stanley Cup last night! This was their first time winning, in fact even getting to the Stanley Cup Finals! They were considered to be the least likely to make it, but they did make it to the Stanley Cup And They Won!!!

I haven’t been a fan for long, just very recently, in fact. I wasn’t against them, but I just wasn’t much of an NHL fan. Living in St.Louis for six years, I realized early on, how much people in our area support and are totally devoted to their local teams. Sayings like “We bleed blue” are common to demonstrate their commitment to the St.Louis Blues! All of this excitement has really changed me lately!
So, being a fan includes wearing the colors, wearing the logo and anything that represents your team! My husband and I now have our Blues clothes!
Being a fan also includes watching all the games and showing up in one way or another. It includes committing in good times and bad to support them!
It includes encouraging them, not putting them down! Cheer them on! Keep the fire going! This is what brings fans together and encourages your team to do well and win!
Being a fan doesn’t have to be only for a sports team though. This is where we typically find a “fan”! We can support each other at our jobs, as a married couple, as parents, as members of a local church body and members of the global church. We can work together as members of our community and as citizens of our country also.

We ask, how do we do this? Do we support no matter what? Yes and No! Yes, in doing what is right, what ” wins the game”! We support in good and bad times. We don’t sit idly by, just saying we hope we win but then we do nothing. We can’t win if we discourage each other or not even try to do what will “win the game.” Our circumstances don’t always turn out the way we prefer but we can’t expect to succeed when we don’t even try the correct way to win and honor our team. What is our main goal? Why does our team exist? We don’t win by going in the wrong direction, a direction that does not honor why we exist. We don’t support ways that are not for the good of our team.!
“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.”
1 Corinthians 9:24-27
Whether we are in one sport or another, a fan or actually a team member, let’s do what matters to win! Let’s win the ultimate prize that matters, an eternal one!
So, let’s try and support our team! Let us do what is necessary to win! When we don’t win in some games, let us figure out how we can do better together! Let us not defame and discourage those we should be supporting! Let’s not be divided in our goals and purpose!
“We all bleed the same
“We All Bleed the Same” by Mandisa
We’re more beautiful when we come together
We all bleed the same
So tell me why, tell me why
We’re divided
If we’re gonna fight
Let’s fight for each other
If we’re gonna shout
Let love be the cry
We all bleed the same
So tell me why, tell me why
We’re divided”
