I plan to share some of my favorite quotes now every Monday because I love quotes that help me think and motivate me. So I would like to help my readers and followers also! I have some questions for you as well so that we can interact! I look forward to learning more about you all too!
Wisdom Quote from the Bible
The verse in the Bible about wisdom that I especially like is:
The fear(respect) of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” (NIV) Another good translation of this verse is “Fear of the the Lord is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment.
– Proverbs 9:10 (NLT)
I see a lot of people making a lot of noise these days, but I want the things that I share to mean something and carry wisdom for other people as well as the next generation.
A Wisdom Quote From a First Lady
Somehow we learn who we really are and then live with that decision.
– Eleanor Roosevelt
This Eleanor Roosevelt quote really resonates for me given my background and the growth I’ve gone through in my life especially since I left home as a young adult and went on to get married and have kids. It challenges me to not let myself fall into decisions of the past when I was young and impressionable, but to continue to grow.
Wisdom From a German Psychologist
Integrity simply means a willingness not to violate one’s identity.
– Erich Fromm
I love Erich Fromm’s statement because it challenges me to have integrity in all I do.
Wisdom From an Early 20th Century Novelist
If a man has talent and cannot use it, he has failed. If he has used only half of it, he has partly failed. If he has a talent and learns somehow to use the whole of it, he has gloriously succeeded and won a satisfaction and a triumph few men ever know.
– Thomas Wolfe
I struggle day to day to stay motivated to share with you all in my writing. But God has given me a talent and a mission and Thomas Wolfe keeps me on point to share the things God has given me to share. I hope that as I use what God has given me that it is an encouragement to you
Wisdom From a Poet
It is the province of knowledge to speak, and it is the privilege of wisdom to listen.
– Oliver Wendell Holmes
It is so important, especially as I continue to grow this forum that what I share comes from a life of listening to others and understanding what is truly important. While I get to share on this site, I spend a LOT of time listening to others in hopes that I can grow and provide value. Interestingly, Jimi Hendrix is often attributed with saying a variation of this quote: “Knowledge speaks, but wisdom listens.”
Wisdom From a U.S. President
Courage is not having the strength to go on. It’s going on when you don’t have the strength
– Theodore Roosevelt
I share some pretty sensitive thoughts and feelings in my articles. Sometimes I struggle with whether or not I should say some things and even whether or not I should share my feelings and personal experiences. I know some of you struggle with similar issues. I takes courage to put yourself out there. Share your story and motivate people to see you.
Wisdom From THE Motivational Speaker and Author
If you are not willing to learn, no one can help you
If you are determined to learn, no one can stop you.
– Zig Ziglar
I didn’t naturally go down this path in life; because I didn’t used to believe in myself. I had to grow a backbone and show some courage to become what God wanted and do what He called me to do.
Questions to Ponder
I’d ask you to show some courage and share your story by responding to this article. Maybe you can start with a few simple questions:
- So, What is your favorite quote? Why?
- Do you have a favorite quote to share today(must be clean)?
- What is your favorite quote motivating you to do? What is God calling you to do?
I simply love great quotes about wisdom. I am studying the book of Proverbs with my children now and love love love the wisdom you are blessed with from that book. My favorite quote on this list is “Somehow we learn who we really are and then live with that decision.” That one is striking to believe but often so true. Thanks for the great quotes!
You’re welcome! Kids need to learn about wisdom and the wisdom that Proverbs gives for everyday life! It is SO important!
I also wrote several posts on the book of Proverbs last July! Check that out too when you get a chance😁
From my father, two quotes.
“You do what you have to. You do what you can. You don’t always do what you want.”
“Do I have to draw you a picture?”
Love your blog. Good work.
Thank you! Thanks for sharing your dad’s quotes also!
I loved reading these and what they mean to you. Many wonderful people have said inspiring words and I scatter words around my home – some scriptures and phrases on mirrors and doorposts to help renew and train my mind… One of my favourite quotes has always been “Never judge a man until you have walked a mile in his moccasins.” (Because by then you’ll be a mile away and you’ll still have his shoes!) 😀 <3
I like that😁! Thank you!
(I am in my seventies, but God helps me with my dexterity.)
I happened by, and I am thankful to have more reading to do. This is all phenomenal. I came back from my surgeon. My shoulder was replaced in April of last year. I go back in one year. I can wave both hands, and bend over and touch my toes. I play the piano with ease. He commented that it is good for the tiny mussels in the arm. My mobility is not always there in others. He was pleased with the progress. I am thankful for a good report. I got on the bench this morning and did 100 times again. This is my exercise for now.
Warmth and depth are in your writings. Bless you and thank you for them. This quote in “The Call” by Rick Joyner is one to take to heart: “The more clearly that you are able to see ME, the more you will be able to see ME in others.”
Thank you! It means a lot to know that my writing is reaching people!
😊
I Love Oliver Wendell Holmes quote “It is the province of knowledge to speak, and it is the privilege of wisdom to listen”. I actually love all the quotes you shared, Eleanor Roosevelt’s and Theodore Roosevelt’s are excellent too. Thank you for following my blog! I’m happy to follow back and look forward to reading more. 🤠 Kindly, Diana
Thank you!
nice quotes..
So love the quotes!
Thanks so much! Which one is your favorite?
The Thomas Wolfe one was certainly good. I love the Roosevelts for their perseverance and what they added to our country!
Yes, the Roosevelt’s were amazing! They imparted a lot of wisdom and heard that they were wonderful people!
I loved reading Eleanor’s biography…what a woman!
I value your input! Thanks again!
Favorite author of quote?
I don’t really have a favorite author or quote. I do have favorite people and admire them for what they have accomplished. Ghandi is one of my very favorites after Jesus, of course!
You’re right! Ghandi was great! Jesus #1😁
What a great idea to start the week. I’m a teacher, so Zig Ziglar’s quote resonates greatly. It reminds me of the Living Bible’s translation of Proverbs 12:1 “To learn you must want to be taught . . .”
Oh thank you! Zig Ziglar’s quotes are some of my favorites! I agree. “To learn you must want to be taught…!” Thank you again for your encouragement! Have a wonderful week!
I will come back to read these again. Your choices are wonderful. Please keep writing. I will read it again.
Awesome! Thank you! See you again soon! Many blessings to you!
Great quotes! I can always use a dose (or two) of wisdom. 😄
Thank you! Me too!

Thank you!

My favorite quote (poem) is by Dawna Markova
I will not die an unlived life
I will not live in fear
of falling or catching fire.
I choose to inhabit my days,
to allow my living to open me,
to make me less afraid,
more accessible,
to loosen my heart
until it becomes a wing,
a torch, a promise.
I choose to risk my significance;
to live so that which came to me as seed
goes to the next as blossom
and that which came to me as blossom,
goes on as fruit.
This really speaks to me on a deep level. I played it safe so many years and was afraid of being who I really am and was created to be. The garden imagery (seed, blossom, fruit) inspired my own Kingdom business- Life in Bloom. Thank you for publishing your favorite quotes. It inspired me. Look forward to reading more of your blog (and I will post something soon for you to read too….:)
Keep Bloomin’ in HIM,
Phoenix Grace
This is a GREAT poem!!! Thank you for sharing and letting me know what it means to you!
