Another week of quotes! This week, I wanted to focus on wisdom quotes!
A Quote from a Financial Investor
Life is like a camera:
Focus on what is important
Capture the good times
Develop from the negatives
And if things don’t work out, take another shot!
– Ziad K. Abdelnour
I have been very insecure at times and I tend to be a perfectionist. However, I have learned to simply acknowledge my mistakes and begin again. Now, I try to learn from negative things that have happened, learn and focus on priorities. I have learned that it is ok to change my original plans for my life or a project and do things differently if something doesn’t work correctly or as I expected. There is no harm in beginning again and learning from the good and the bad in my life. There are plenty of “rough drafts” in all of our lives.
A Quote from a Novelist
Life is like a book. There are good chapters, and there are bad chapters. But when you get to a bad chapter, you don’t stop reading the book! If you do…then you never get to find out what happens next!
– Brian Falkner
As I said in the first quote, I have to learn from the bad and the good that I have created. I want to see what happens next, so I move forward and try again! Neither will anyone else! I won’t get to benefit others either if I don’t try again.
A Quote from a Children’s Novelist, Cartoonist, Animator and Filmmaker
Oh the things you can find, if you don’t stay behind.
– Dr. Seuss
I will learn more and discover more if I don’t hold myself back!
A Quote With Biblical Application, but Unknown Author
What consumes your mind controls your life
-Unknown
Although this quote says that the author is unknown, the Bible contains verses that cover this very principle.
Finally brothers, whatever is true… think on these things
– Phillippians 4:8
do not be anxious for anything.
– Philippians 4:6
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind…
– Romans 12:2
Transformation and Renewal indicates change and control of the mind to thinking about what is good and acceptable and perfect. That is discerning the will of God. But how?
We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God and take every thought captive to obey Christ.
– 2 Corinthians 10:5
Forgetting what lies behind…
– Philippians 3:13-14
A Quote from A Former President of South Africa
May your choices reflect your hopes, not your fears.
– Nelson Mandela
I have often allowed fear to control me at the beginning of something I want to do. I did it because of my insecurities when I first started writing and starting my blog, but my husband has helped me get past many of my fears. He has encouraged me to make choices that demonstrate, or “reflect” what I hope to do. What I aspire to do. He has encouraged me to do what is best in life and more importantly what God calls me to do instead of allowing my fears to stop me. I want God in control, not fear!
Questions to Ponder
I’d ask you to show some courage and share your story by responding to this article. Maybe you can start with a few simple questions:
- So, what is your favorite quote and why?
- Do you have a favorite quote to share today(must be clean)?
- What is your favorite quote motivating you to do? What is God calling you to do?
You asked us to share a quote we liked. I like “Whenever you look for the bad in someone, you will always find it.” That encourages me to take the more challenging route and look for the good in people. There’s good and bad in all of us, so focus that lens on the good and forgive the bad.
Yes, that is right! Thank you!
I’m an avid reader so Faulkner’s quote spoke to me the most. I’ll confess when a book gets too intense I’ll set it aside and take a break to regroup my thinking. I do much the same in life. When there seems like too much chaos swirling around, I purposefully withdraw to a quiet place to regroup. Like the book, I always go back to see it out.
That’s good!
‘What consumes your mind controls your life’… wow very true
All very good quotes, great post!! My favorite is the first one – Life is like a camera ~ most excellent and great advice and thought provoking! ❤️ ~ Diana
Thank you! I’m glad you like it!
“When life closes a door, open it again. It’s a door. That’s how they work.” Unknown, but wise 😁
Not actually my favorite as I have several pages of quotes I have collected from my readings, that I cycle through as email signatures or comments on blogs. This is just the latest that I read on another blog recently.
More to the point of your excellent blog, from a book by Zig Ziglar (Now there’s a kid who would have a case against his parents! 😂) “When obstacles arise, you change your direction to reach your goal; you do not change your decision to get there.”
That is a great one by Zig Ziglar!
Thanks for the follow 🙂
You’re welcome!
Let’s talk about life👍🏻
Life is messed up!!!
Great questions! I love the writings of Spurgeon. But David Wilkerson’s life and writings I believe have had the greatest impact in my Life. There are so many things I could share. This is what I came up with from DW. “Do you fight a losing battle with an unpredictable enemy? Victory is always desired, but should you fail, remember; it is what remains in your heart that God is interested in. Your devotion to Him in spite of failure is His desire.” From “God Is Faithful”
Great quotes. Thanks!
You’re welcome! Glad you like them!
The one that hit me was what consumes you mind controls your life. I love the verses you paired with it. I am going to great lengths to shut off the negative influences. And thank God it is working.
That is great and important! I find if I focus too much on like the news, for example, it does control my mind way too much and I become too negative. Thank you for sharing!
Great thought provoking quotes, Becky! Love the first one. In fact I am going to “quote your quote”!🥰
Thanks Lissa! I hope you are doing well! Love you!
