Did You Forget Until Now Or Do You Ignore 9/11?

It is much easier when the media reminds us of 9/11, to think about what happened this day twenty years ago. Do you remember this day though, when we lose young men and women regularly? Do Afghanistan and Iraq have a difficult, upsetting sound when you even hear the names of these countries? People in the Twin Towers, along the sidewalks, Shanksville, Pennsylvania and the Pentagon all suffered terribly that day! Our first responders from all over the United States came to help in many ways. Then so many decided that day, that they would be actively part of destroying those who harmed us on 9/11. They would also prevent this from happening again. Are we too busy these days to remember this time and events of twenty years ago? Did you forget until now?

Maybe you weren’t born yet or were very young. I remember this day very well. So do my kids. My oldest was 9, second daughter was 7, and youngest was 5 when we were attacked. The morning news was on. I had just made breakfast for my family while my husband was in his last year of college. Daniel went up to Bryan College, our Alma Mater. He was in “The Lions Den” (a student lounge and recreation area), watching what was happening. I was about to start our school day with our kids as I home schooled them at the time.

Suddenly, there was breaking news. Several events happened in such short time like planes crashing in Pennsylvania, the Pentagon and the Twin Towers crashing in New York City. People could hardly believe their eyes. Reporters were somber about what they reported as the events were unfolding right then and there before our very eyes. https://www.wsj.com/story/911-timeline-how-the-day-unfolded-acbc78e3

Did You Forget Until Now?

It is easy to forget, then ignore events that don’t mean much to us day-to-day unless we have loved ones that we dearly miss. Once a year we are reminded on the news when this date returns. I had trouble finding a good copy of this song that I could include on this post. Bin Laden is no more, but how about other terrorists? Replace Bin Laden with Isis, Isis-K or the Taliban. They still exist! Terrorists struck in Europe too, since then. Time may blur the past, but doesn’t change the reality of today!

While Biden was on vacation at Camp David and other White House staff could not be contacted, our servicemen and woman were being killed. While President Biden places blame on Donald Trump, Biden still has to take full responsibility for decisions that he, as a current Commander In Chief, is completely responsible to make. A President must make decisions that are for today and tomorrow, not what was the case several years ago or even a few months ago. These 13 who lost their lives on August 26, were very young. How do we put young military and still with very little experience yet, in such a dangerous situation just because we have to “hurry up” and get our people out by a certain date that is too soon for events that were unfolding.

Do You Ignore 9/11?

The Taliban were coming further and further into Afghanistan over the past months and weeks even. The correct decision had to be made. We can’t live on the basis that our military has already been there for twenty years. Sure, I didn’t want to see them there much longer either, but when the Afghanistan people and Americans are facing a very threatening situation, this isn’t the time to let go and let danger happen. What did our military fight for and spend time in Afghanistan for twenty years, for? I know some who spent time in Afghanistan and they wonder if our government allowed the Taliban back in, what was the point to going there to begin with? They really do know that they went for the right reason, to fight terrorism, but they also fight to prevent terrorism.

I believe that responsibility for those who died just a few weeks ago, is only on President Biden and his administration. Those who voted for Biden or those who did not vote at all, carry a level of responsibility for the decisions that the politicians make as well. This is true of our Governors, our Senators, House of Representatives, even down to the government of our own cities and states. If we don’t make a difference by being active, speaking up and then voting for quality politicians who have our best interest at heart for all Americans, we influence what happens in our country and overseas. When I hear President Biden’s speeches, what I hear instead of preventing terrorism, is whether we are getting our vaccinations, and allowing people to come through our southern border, including more who have Covid and are NOT required to get a vaccination.

Do You Remember Now, Why We Must NOT Forget?

What do we as Americans value right now? Did we value the same thing 20 years ago when 9/11 happened? Does the government realize that we still have the safety of our people to consider? Or have they forgotten? I rarely hear other than on the news, remembrance by our current administration and what this means for us in current times. Do we fight every day almost, over race and equality? The government wants to spend more and more, make sure that we are all wearing masks, getting our vaccinations and allowing hundreds and thousands of people through our southern border. I know that many have been sick and died from Covid. I know that this is a real threat to be concerned about, but are we still protecting our safety and freedom from terrorism?

Did you forget until now or do you ignore 9/11? Are we going to put the events of this day, “on the shelf” other than 1 day a year, so that we can fight for and over some issues that really don’t protect us long term? We must remain passionate!!! Come together in unity over valuable events and people like my community did this week, honoring Marine Corps Lance Corporal Jared Schmitz and welcoming him home after he gave his life for my freedom and the freedom of those in Afghanistan who believe in something different than Joe Biden has thrown them into. Thank you to all who serve in the military and to our First Responders! You put your life on the line daily for America!

For all of us who love America and want to see her stand strong, here is a song Michael W.Smith wrote after 9/11. It is beautiful! Stay strong and stand for what is right!

When the night
Seems to say
All hope is lost
Gone away
But I know
I’m not alone
By the light
She stands,

There she waves
Faithful friend
Shimmering stars
Westward wind
Show the way
Carry me
To the place
She stands

Just when you think it might be over
Just when you think the fight is gone
Someone will risk his life to raise her
There she stands

There she flies
Clear blue skies
Reminds us with red
Of those that died
Washed in white
By the brave
In their strength
She stands

When evil calls itself a martyr
When all your hopes come crashing down
Someone will pull her from the rubble
There she stands

We’ve seen her flying torn and tattered
We’ve seen her stand the test of time
And through it all the fools have fallen
There she stands

By the dawn’s
Early light
And through the fight
She stands

  1. My dear rduncanheart, it is very painful as regards the precarious situation you people are experiencing through the Terrorists and Talibans.

I am always praying for you people. The situation will come to normalcy by the special grace of God Almighty, Amen.

Peace of Christ be with you…

  2. I was just commenting to my husband that the terrorists wonโ€™t have to hijack our planes again- we left several in Afghanistan which they can have as their very own to use against against us next time.

    1. Thatโ€™s the truth! Now they will use it, just wondering what day and where. Sad that we even have to wonder. Then the White House thinks that the Taliban is acting professional and businesslike. Since when? They sure are fooled or trying awfully hard to fool us. Iโ€™m not fooled that easily though. Praying for all of us Americans! We have a lot to be concerned about right now๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป
