Most of us heard the news yesterday of another shooting at an elementary school in Texas. This seems so unbelievable how an 18 year old can go into any elementary school and kill such young children and teachers. He also shot his grandmother in the face. Why, we ask? I heard people suggest today, is it bad mental health? Is it just evil or both? We know that these families and the entire Uvalde, Tx community is hurting SO much! It is time though, to turn our hearts to the one who heals and will end all of this evil and pain. This is your invitation to come. Come to the one who heals and will end the evil someday.
Evil Continues Until The End
Last week, we heard of the shooting in Buffalo New York at a supermarket. Everyday it seems that evil thrives more and more. Is evil what really prevails though? Does God have any control over our world right now with so many hurting? Life doesn’t make sense to many and we hurt.
God Vs Satan Still In A Battle
We read through Revelation and see the evil that comes from Satan, the Beast. Circumstances will not improve for a long time, I’m afraid. But we do have the hope and the peace that comes from having a real relationship with Christ. I really believe this because I know. In my own life, I have experienced hurt and pain also and ask the Lord, “why?” at times. We won’t experience this hope and peace, though, outside of a real relationship with the Lord. The pain will continue and people will continue hurting. I hate to break the bad news to you. Satan and God are still in a battle. God will win though. Don’t forget!
Please Come!
According to the Bible version that I read, I see five times, the words “come” or “coming” in chapter 22 of Revelation. This is the final chapter of the final book of the Bible. What better way to end it than to tell us that we should “come” or that He is “coming” and we should join Him. We honestly are so blessed to have an opportunity to come to Him. To receive Him as our personal Lord and Savior, to have a real relationship with Him day by day, then spend all of eternity with Him. I can’t say enough of how much I look forward to this! He is going to wipe away every tear, mourning, death and pain that we experience now. We have a totally new life to look forward to someday with Him. And it is going to be amazing! He did not come to earth to die for our sin in vain. He did it so that we can experience life eternally with Him. Please come join Him!
The Angel Speaks
The first few verses of Revelation 22 describe the beauty around the throne of God. There is healing for the nations. The leaves of the tree of life produce fruit regularly and it brings healing. There will no longer be any curse, no night for God brings light. God’s name will be on each person’s forehead. The angel reminds John how faithful, true and trustworthy the Lord’s Word is. The angel will show prophets what will happen soon.
John, again, wants to worship the angel that told him what will happen but the angel tells him to not worship him because he is a fellow servant but tells John to worship God! The angel also told John to not seal up these words of what is coming.
Look Forward To His Coming
The end and the invitation for all of us is when God tells us that we have Him to look forward to. God is coming to get us and He will reward us according to all that we did during our lives here on earth. He tells us again, how He is the Alpha and Omega, first and last, beginning and the end.
He tells those of us who came to Him, believed and changed our lives, that we are blessed. But many are still outside, still living evil, practicing magic arts, sexual immorality, murderers, idolaters, and those who lie.
Come Join Him
The next three verses, the word “come” is mentioned three times. The Lord is really making a point that He wants us to “come”! He is ready for us and willing for us to come see Him, to sit at His table, to be by His side. And He is more than worthy of our worship! Don’t add or take anything away from His Word! “Yes, He is coming soon!” Revelation ends with the words,
“Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen”
Revelation 22:20-21
For eternity, we need to choose Him, to come to Him. But daily, we must come to Him as well! To do this, we must yield our hearts and lives to Him. We know that we are home, when we are with Him, worshiping and spending time with Him.
“How lovely is your dwelling place,
Psalm 84:1-4 NIV
Lord Almighty!
2 My soul yearns, even faints,
for the courts of the Lord;
my heart and my flesh cry out
for the living God.
3 Even the sparrow has found a home,
and the swallow a nest for herself,
where she may have her young—
a place near your altar,
Lord Almighty, my King and my God.
4 Blessed are those who dwell in your house;
they are ever praising you.”
I did not know about the shootings. I hope it was not near any of your people in Texas. Even so, Come Lord Jesus! Help us Lord!
